Legislature Overrides Baker’s MCC Veto

August 11, 2016 by Madison Estes

victory-imageGreat news from the State House: Both the Massachusetts House and Senate overwhelmingly voted to override Governor Charlie Baker’s veto of more than half of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s budget. This unanimous vote in the Senate and a 156-2 vote in the House reversed a 55% cut in the MCC budget, shows bipartisan support, and says loud and clear that arts and culture are worthy of investment as a core state service.

This vote brings the Massachusetts Cultural Council budget back to $14 million and steers clear of devastating cuts to grants and programs.

Dear Prospective Exhibitors and Sponsors,

The Massachusetts Parent Teacher Association (Massachusetts PTA) invites you to sponsor and/or exhibit at our 1st annual Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures: A Call To Action! Summit. The conference will be held on October 21, 2016 at the Colonial Hotel, 625 Betty Spring Road, Gardner, Massachusetts. We are excited about this first ever Massachusetts PTA Health Summit. This exceptional audience of parents, educators, health and wellness experts, health and civic organizations, community members/leaders, elected officials and Massachusetts PTA Partners from across the Commonwealth will gather to discuss, learn and take action to keep our children, families and communities healthy.

Massachusetts PTA represents hundreds of PTA Local units and members across this Commonwealth. We are dedicated to promoting effective health education programs and services in schools, families and communities in order to offer children, youth and families the skills, tools and abilities they need to make healthy choices.

A large attendance is expected to participate in this conference, including our colleagues from the greater New England PTA States. We know that you can enrich this opportunity as well as learn from it. Your exhibits, presentations, and support are all very valuable to the Massachusetts PTA. We hope you will join us at the Massachusetts PTA Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures: A Call To Action!   Summit on October 21st, 2016 at the Colonial Hotel in Gardner, MA.

In addition to our Vendors/Exhibitors, we are also welcoming you and/or your business to Sponsor this conference. This is a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate your encouragement and efforts to support the health and well-being of our children, families and communities not only in Massachusetts but also across the greater New England States.

We really want you to be part of our very first Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures: A Call To Action! Summit.

April 16 – Reflections Awards Reception

April 6, 2016 by Madison Estes

artworkThe Massachusetts PTA invites you to our 2016 Reflections Awards Reception to celebrate and congratulate student artwork from across the state. Join us on Saturday, April 16, 12-2pm at the Fitchburg Art Museum for awards, accolades and private access to the 2015-16 Reflections Art Gallery.

We chose the Fitchburg Art Museum because we want our accomplished student artists to feel less like students and more like artists on their special day of recognition. Student artwork will be on public display in the museum’s Community Gallery until May 2, 2016.
