A Win for Arts Funding and Public Art

June 2, 2017 by Madison Estes

public-artLast week, the Massachusetts Senate passed its budget and made a bold statement about the importance arts and culture bring to a vibrant, healthy, and equitable Massachusetts. Within the budget, the Senate voted to increase state investment in arts and culture by funding the Massachusetts Cultural Council at $16.5 million.

In addition, the Senate adopted Senator Eric Lesser’s amendment to establish the Massachusetts Public Art Program, creating a state program dedicated to the creation of public art on Commonwealth-owned properties.
