Give students confidence in their abilities to explore ideas and learn through the arts.
Enroll your school in the 2017-2018 National PTA Reflections Student Arts Awards and start your program today!
During the 2017-18 school year, hundreds of thousands of students will reflect on a common theme “Within Reach” and create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Students may enter the national awards program through their school’s PTA.
The arts—and the National PTA Reflections program—support student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in your school community. Celebrate arts learning in your school community with Reflections.

Step 1. Getting Started
Mark your calendar for state deadlines. Take the eLearning course and program leader checklist to walk through the steps below and gather helpful tips on how to host a successful program. Use the volunteer sign-up sheet to recruit support.
Step 2. Promote Your Program
Announce your call for entries and share your state program entry form and official entry rules. Display the 17-18 Call for Entries Poster (En Espanol) around your school and post the 17-18 Social Media Banner on Facebook and Twitter. Download these program images to create your own fliers, bulletin boards and more.
Step 3. Organize Artwork for Judging
Collect and organize entries by category and division. Share this reviewer’s packet with your judges and provide them with the student’s work, title of work and artist statement. At the end of their review, rank entries and assign awards. Award levels may include Excellence, Merit and Honorable Mention.
Step 4. Celebrate Your Participants
Announce your awardees in a press release and showcase works for the entire school community to enjoy. Use the celebration guide to help you plan and awards ceremony, art exhibition reception and more! Share the media advisory to promote your event.
Follow state program guidelines and deadlines to offer students’ opportunities for regional, state and national awards and recognition.
Step 5. Wrap Up and Report Success
Complete a short survey to report your success and feedback. Use volunteer thank-you letter to thank school staff, community partners, judges and volunteers.
